Aftercare Tips for Your Eyebrow Tattoo

Proper aftercare is a crucial part of eyebrow tattooing. It ensures the overall health of your eyebrows as it will help you steer clear of any potential negative issues such as infections and experience recovery as quickly as possible. Not only will you rest assured knowing that these parts of your features are secured health-wise, but you will also attain overall satisfaction over the long-term success of your new eyebrows and the cosmetic tattooing experience as a whole.

At CMP Cosmetic Tattoo & Microblading, not only do we aim to give you the most excellent eyebrow tattooing experience and results, but we also aspire to educate you on how to take care of them in the best possible way. After your tattooing session, we will provide you with an aftercare cream you can apply to the affected area and an aftercare fact sheet you can follow for optimal outcomes.

For a glimpse into the post-procedure guidelines, let us walk you through a list of things to remember and valuable tips that will help you achieve the perfect eyebrow tattoos through proper aftercare!

Things to Remember:

  1. Immediately after the tattooing procedure, you might experience a tingling sensation and swelling in the eyebrow area, especially during the first two days. The reason for this is that the numbing anaesthetic applied before the tattooing procedure will start to wear off, and the wound will begin to heal. To address this, you might consider taking an over-the-counter pain reliever to minimize any discomfort. However, make sure this is advised by your technician and approved by a certified medical doctor. All tattoos are prone to the inherent risk of infection or allergic reaction. If pain persists, consult your physician immediately.
  2. The eyebrow tattoo may seem significantly dark and thick in the first few days after the procedure. These are natural processes brought about by the build-up and drying of the lymph nodes in the eyebrow area. Such signs will subside in the days to come.
  3. You will experience the scabbing and peeling of the skin in the eyebrow area. These are due to the collagen produced by your body during the natural healing process. Allow the scab to form and fall away naturally. Also, keep away from scratching and picking the area, which may cause the removal of pigment and natural hairs. Such consequences can damage the tattoo.

Things to Do:

  1. The chemicals in cosmetics may interact with and infect the wound. Hence, for at least one week after the procedure, refrain from applying cosmetics that are not approved by your technician. Instead, use only the aftercare cream given during the first three days.
  2. Keep from wetting the tattoo area and avoid exposing it to direct sunlight for at least five days. Else, such behaviours may cause the tattoo to fade prematurely. Avoid going outdoors during the day and limit physical activities that involve excessive sweating, such as swimming, working out, and going to saunas.
  3. Sleep on your back instead of on the stomach or the sides, and in clean beddings. This will keep the wound clean and from being pressed on surfaces.
  4. Refrain from touching your eyebrows regardless of how tempted you are before the touch-up session. Instead, gently blot the area with dry, clean tissue as needed.
  5. Refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages for at least one week. Alcohol thins the blood and may cause pigment migration, excessive bleeding, and swelling, and may impede the healing process.
  6. Book and attend your touch-up session to give your technician the chance to examine and perfect your eyebrow tattoo.

Disclaimer: The aftercare experience varies from person to person due to differences in skin type, sweat factor, skin care products used, and the aftercare techniques followed. Hence, make sure to apply only cosmetics approved by your expert and follow instructions correctly.
